Course Corrections: Knowing When to Stay the Course, When to Change It, and When to Stop
A flight plan gives a pilot a path forward. But conditions change. The unexpected happens. And sometimes the plan that made perfect sense at the beginning no longer makes sense along the way.
As a private pilot, Brandon has experienced those moments firsthand. On his very first solo flight, an unexpected military operation suddenly changed a simple trip around the airport. During his FAA checkride, determination to earn his license collided with conditions that told him something different.
Both moments required a decision.
Over years of flying, Brandon discovered that good judgment isn’t always about sticking to the plan. Sometimes it means staying the course. Sometimes it means adjusting your heading. And sometimes it means having the courage to stop.
Course corrections aren’t evidence that the plan failed. They’re part of the journey.
That idea provides the foundation for Course Corrections—an engaging keynote about judgment, adaptability, and making good decisions when circumstances change.
Blending memorable general aviation stories with lessons that reach far beyond the cockpit, Brandon challenges audiences to look beyond the plan itself, pay attention to changing conditions, and recognize what the moment requires.
You Don’t Have to Be Ready: How to Move Forward When You Don’t Feel Prepared
We spend a great deal of time preparing for the next challenge. We read. We research. We study. We seek advice. We gather information. And yet, when the moment finally arrives, we may still find ourselves thinking: “I’m not ready for this.”
Brandon knows that feeling well. Years ago, while expecting his first child, he did what most expectant parents do—he prepared. He read the books, attended the classes, and tried to learn everything he could. And still, when the baby arrived, he didn’t feel prepared.
But he and his wife figured it out.
As their children grew, that experience repeated itself. Each new stage brought new challenges, new questions, and another opportunity to discover that perhaps being completely prepared was never really the point. Eventually, Brandon began to recognize a pattern that extended far beyond parenting.
We often have to move forward before we feel ready.
That realization provides the foundation for You Don’t Have to Be Ready—an engaging and relatable keynote about navigating uncertainty, growing through experience, and finding the confidence to take on what comes next.
Through personal stories, humor, and practical insights, Brandon invites audiences to reconsider what it means to be prepared—and to recognize that sometimes the most important step is simply figuring out what needs to happen next.
